This year, there was significant interest among experienced professionals in the field of industrial safety to become Labor Safety Keepers. The application competition rate reached 4.1 to 1, approximately a 30% increase compared to last year, and a total of 112 individuals were ultimately selected. This heightened interest reflects the growing social concern for industrial accident prevention and worker safety, as well as the increasing importance of field-oriented safety activities.
After completing basic training, the selected Labor Safety Keepers will conduct more than 42,000 on-site inspections annually at small industrial sites across the province, including construction and manufacturing locations.
If risk factors are discovered during these inspections, immediate improvements are recommended. For workplaces where improvements are not properly implemented, joint inspections will be conducted by labor inspectors from the Ministry of Employment and Labor together with the Labor Safety Keepers to enforce stricter management of industrial accident prevention.
In addition to on-site inspections, the province will continue to expand its safety culture by conducting joint inspections with city and county authorities and implementing customized safety awareness improvement activities tailored to the timing and risk factors of specific targets. These efforts are part of an ongoing policy focus on industrial accident prevention.
Kim Dae-soon, the Second Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "I ask the Labor Safety Keepers to take pride and work actively in the field, as a single site visit or the elimination of one risk factor can become a major step in saving workers' lives and reducing accidents in Gyeonggi Province's industrial sites."
