Each organization will run the program once a week, for a total of 12 sessions, with 20 people with disabilities from the region participating to experience therapeutic interaction with plants.
The curriculum includes activities such as potting and plant care using a variety of species, including Phalaenopsis orchids, geraniums, marguerite daisies, Boston ferns, and quince trees.
Through planting and caring for plants, participants are expected to improve their rehabilitation outcomes by utilizing hand movements and fine motor skills, and to gain a sense of emotional stability and accomplishment through plants that embody the vitality of spring.
Additionally, a satisfaction survey will be conducted after the program to analyze its effectiveness.
Nam Junggu, Director of the Health Center, commented, "This horticultural class for the disabled is a meaningful program that allows participants to find emotional stability and expand social engagement through plants. Cheongdo County will continue to operate various rehabilitation programs to promote the health and social participation of people with disabilities."
