On March 13, the Yeongcheon City Government announced that the Yeongcheon Citizens’ Center and the Ianhwa Dance Company have achieved the final selection for the “2026 Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation Resident Performing Arts Company Support Project.”

This project is hosted by the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation and sponsored by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Yeongcheon City. The Yeongcheon Citizens’ Center signed an agreement with the Ianhwa Dance Company, which was selected as the resident company through a public contest in December last year. Together, they planned a performance based on the three prominent historical figures of Yeongcheon-Jeong Mongju, Choi Museon, and Park Inro-and participated in the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation’s contest with this proposal.

The creative Korean dance performance “Three People, Three Colors - Meeting Through Dance,” which embodies the loyal spirit of Jeong Mongju, the innovation and tenacity of Choi Museon, and the artistic flair and poetry of Park Inro, is scheduled to premiere in November this year.

Additionally, in October, outstanding repertoire performances such as “Dance: A Gesture of a Millennium,” featuring a diverse array of traditional and creative dances, will be staged to offer citizens a wide range of cultural experiences.

Furthermore, the public program “Our Dance, A Festival of Life” will be held from May to October.

Dance classes will be offered for Gyeongbuk residents, and participants who complete the course will have the opportunity to take the stage themselves in the outstanding repertoire performances.

Through these programs, citizens are expected to have greater access to culture and the arts, and new opportunities for community engagement will be created.

Having been selected through fierce competition, it is anticipated that this project will allow for even greater artistic creativity and achievement.

It is also expected to present high-quality cultural and artistic performances to the citizens, invigorate the operation of the Yeongcheon Citizens’ Center, and contribute to raising the cultural level of the region.

An official from Yeongcheon City stated, “With this selection, we can provide a stable creative environment for local arts organizations and present high-quality cultural and artistic works to our citizens. We will continue to do our utmost for the development of Yeongcheon’s culture and arts.”

Meanwhile, the Ianhwa Dance Company, founded in 2002, is recognized as a representative Korean dance company of Yeongcheon and has contributed to promoting local culture through performances that draw on the city’s historical themes.
