Daejeon City will operate the ‘2026 Daejeon Story Tour’ a total of 50 times from March to November, offering citizens and visiting tourists the chance to experience Daejeon's hidden attractions and historical and cultural assets through engaging stories.
This year’s Story Tour consists of 16 dawn tours, 7 night tours, and 27 themed tours, spanning 11 courses across three categories, with a total participation target of 1,100 people. The participation fee is 10,000 won per person.
The Daejeon Story Tour is a storytelling-focused tourism program designed to help both citizens and visitors experience the city's history, culture, nature, and people in a deeper and more interesting way. Unlike standard city tours that focus on major tourist destinations, this program highlights hidden spots and unique local stories.
This year, departure times have been diversified to 5:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 1:30 p.m., and, in addition to the existing main departure point at Daejeon City Hall Station Exit 1, some courses will now also depart from the original downtown area near Daejeon Station and Sung Sim Dang, improving accessibility.
Additionally, a participatory tour format has been introduced that adds props, actions, and dialogue to the historical storytelling guides, and citizen participation events such as travel course competitions and review contests will also be held. As part of an eco-friendly operation, activities such as plogging, tumbler usage, and online surveys are planned as well.
The dawn tours focus on Daejeon’s waterways and sunrise spots, such as Gapcheon, Yudeungcheon, Daecheongho, and Geumgang. Through five courses-‘Is There a Place Like This on Gapcheon?’, ‘Birdnae Dawn Walk’, ‘Daecheongho Samho Exploration’, ‘Want to Try Watching the Sunrise at Daecheongho?’, and ‘Northern End Village Soyeoul and Geumgang’-participants can experience stories of Daejeon's nature and villages in the atmosphere of early morning.
The night tours are made up of three courses: ‘Bomunsan Observatory Tour’, ‘Gapcheon Firefly Tour’, and ‘Expo Night View Tour’. The newly introduced Bomunsan Observatory Tour, as well as programs such as Yasir Village Sunset and Late Fireflies, Hanbit Tower Fountain, and Media Facade, have been organized to let participants enjoy representative night-time attractions in Daejeon together with storytelling elements.
The themed tours are divided into village, history, and customized travel programs. These include village tours in Hakhadong, Giseongdong, and Hoedeokdong, historical courses such as ‘A Time Travel Through Daejeon’s Modern and Contemporary History’ and ‘Meeting Danjae Shin Chaeho’, as well as a variety of personalized programs like East-West Trail, Fortress Trekking, Food Tour, and special tours to commemorate Liberation Day and Hangeul Day.
Park Seungwon, Director of Culture, Arts and Tourism at Daejeon City, said, “The 2026 Daejeon Story Tour is a Daejeon-style tourism program designed to let citizens and tourists rediscover the city by adding stories to its nature, history, and culture. We aim to provide a memorable travel experience by capturing the emotions of dawn, the charm of night, and the stories of villages and people.”
Applications for participation can be made online or by phone, and detailed schedules and course information can be found through the official Daejeon Story Tour reservation channel.
