North Korea-China Passenger Train Resumes After Six Years, Crossing Yalu River Bridge in Both Directions

The international passenger train connecting North Korea and China has resumed operations after six years.

According to Japan's Nikkei newspaper and other sources on March 12, a passenger train traveling from Pyongyang, North Korea, to Beijing, China, crossed the China-North Korea Friendship Bridge over the Yalu River. The train consisted of a total of nine cars. On the same day, at around 10 a.m., a train heading from Dandong to Pyongyang also passed over the China-North Korea Friendship Bridge, as reported by Nikkei.

The North Korea-China passenger train service, which was suspended in January 2020 after North Korea closed its borders due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has resumed after approximately six years. According to China State Railway Group, the Pyongyang-Beijing passenger train now operates four times a week in both directions, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
