Taehun Lee Shares Lead... "Excitement Continues at LIV Golf"

Korean-Canadian golfer Taehun Lee has taken a share of the lead at the LIV Golf tournament.

On May 2, at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore (par 71, 7,406 yards), Lee carded five birdies and one bogey in the first round of LIV Golf Singapore, which has a total purse of 30 million dollars. With a 4-under-par 67 on the opening day, he joined last week's Hong Kong tournament winner Jon Rahm (Spain), Bryson DeChambeau (United States), and Lee Westwood (England) at the top of the leaderboard.

Lee has recorded four victories on the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour and three wins on the Asian Tour. In January, he topped the LIV Golf Promotion event, earning his spot on the LIV Golf circuit this season. He is part of the "Wildcard" team alongside Yosuke Asaji (Japan) and Scott Vincent (Zimbabwe). In the three tournaments he played earlier this year, his best individual finish was a tie for 13th last month in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Lee started strong with a birdie on his opening hole, the par-4 6th, and then gained momentum with three consecutive birdies from holes 9 to 11. He offset a bogey on the 13th hole with a birdie on the par-4 16th. He safely made par on the remaining seven holes.

Louis Oosthuizen (South Africa) and Tyrrell Hatton (England) are tied for 5th at 3-under-par 68, while last month's Adelaide winner Anthony Kim (United States) is tied for 12th with a 2-under-par 69.

Among members of the "Korea Golf Club," which is composed of players of Korean descent, Danny Lee (New Zealand) posted the best score with an even-par 71, tying for 27th. Song Younghan is tied for 39th at 2-over-par 73, An Byeonghun is tied for 45th at 3-over-par 74, and Kim Mingyu is in last place at 9-over-par 80.
