Changnyeong County Launches Proactive Measures in Areas at Risk of Summer Natural Disasters

On-Site Inspections Led by the Governor
at Areas at Risk of Human Casualties

Changnyeong County, South Gyeongsang Province, conducted inspections of business sites located in areas at risk of human casualties for three days from March 10 to March 12, 2026.

This inspection was organized in response to the increasing risks of natural disasters such as unpredictable heavy rainfall caused by climate change. The county governor personally visited the sites to review the status of safety management and to proactively eliminate potential risk factors.

The main targets of the inspection included three locations: Dodong District in Jangma-myeon (disaster risk maintenance), Gyori District in Changnyeong-eup (comprehensive maintenance of flood and storm damage living areas), and Ucheon-ri in Goam-myeon (landslide-prone area). The county governor checked the overall safety conditions at each site, including the status of safety management, emergency contact systems, resident evacuation plans, as well as the risks of falling rocks and soil runoff, drainage conditions, and flood risks.

Governor Sung Nakin, who visited the sites, stated, "When it comes to disaster response, thorough preventive measures are far more important than post-disaster recovery." He added, "Since disasters are directly linked to the lives and property of county residents, I will personally ensure there are no issues at the sites and build a safer Changnyeong."

The county plans to promptly address the improvements identified through this inspection and establish a practical disaster response system.
