Gilyeo Lee, President of Gachon University, Presents 'Gachon Talent Award' to Donggyu Kim and Seonggyu Kim

Gil-Yeo Lee, president of Gachon University, presented the Gachon Talent Award to Sungkyu Kim, a third-year student in the Department of Public Administration, and Dongkyu Kim, a graduate of the Department of Korean Language and Literature, in recognition of their embodiment of philanthropy and a spirit of service.

Gachon University announced that President Lee awarded the Gachon Talent Award to these two individuals on the 12th and invited them to her office afterwards to offer encouragement.

Sungkyu Kim spent the past year monitoring harmful suicide-related information circulating online, collecting and analyzing over 15,000 posts. Through this analysis, he identified that reports were most concentrated during the early morning hours and proposed the need to increase dedicated monitoring staff and budget support for those hours.

For these efforts, Sungkyu Kim received the Excellence Award in the "2025 University Innovation Support Project Student Essay Contest," co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

On this day, alumnus Dongkyu Kim, who was invited for another special reason, established a habit of self-directed learning by systematically studying main textbooks and reference materials based on syllabi and organizing handwritten notes by subject. As a result, he graduated with a perfect GPA of 4.5 and achieved the honor of being the top graduate of his class.

President Lee encouraged the two students, saying, "They are proud talents of Gachon University who have achieved meaningful accomplishments with diligence and a spirit of challenge in both academics and social engagement activities. I hope they continue to grow as individuals who bring about positive change in society in their respective fields."
