On March 12, Seoul Milk Cooperative announced that cumulative sales of its fermented dairy brand "The Jinhan" have surpassed 450 million units, driven by increased sales of plain yogurt and Greek yogurt products.
According to market research firm Euromonitor, the domestic fermented dairy market recently exceeded 2 trillion won in size. This growth is attributed to the rising demand for convenient fermented dairy products, as the trend toward prioritizing health continues to spread among consumers.
Seoul Milk is enhancing its product competitiveness by promoting "The Jinhan," a fermented dairy brand made with high-quality raw milk. First launched in 2018 as the "Sunsu" product, "The Jinhan Plain Yogurt" expanded its lineup following a brand renewal in 2024.
The "Sunsu" product is made exclusively from milk and lactic acid bacteria, without the addition of colorants, stabilizers, or flavorings. The "Sweet" variant contains 92% raw milk with added oligosaccharides, which delivers a mild sweetness. These products have gained consumer attention and favorable word-of-mouth as ideal options for yogurt bowls and Greek yogurt applications.
"The Jinhan Greek Yogurt" uses domestically sourced milk and is crafted in the traditional Greek style by separating whey. It is characterized by a thick texture and rich flavor, and can be enjoyed with fruit, granola, honey, and more.
After launching "Seoul Milk Greek Yogurt" in 2023, Seoul Milk unified and renewed its brand in 2024 as "The Jinhan Greek Yogurt." The company currently offers "The Jinhan Greek Yogurt" and "The Jinhan Greek Yogurt Soft" in 100g and 450g product sizes respectively.
Thanks to this product expansion, cumulative sales of the "The Jinhan" brand surpassed 450 million units as of January this year. In particular, sales of the 2.45-liter large-capacity plain yogurt increased by 115% year-on-year, while Greek yogurt sales grew by 273% over the same period.
Lee Eunkyung, Head of Fermented Dairy Marketing at Seoul Milk Cooperative, stated, "The growth of the 'The Jinhan' brand can be attributed to our strategy of continuously strengthening the competitiveness of fermented dairy products based on Seoul Milk's high-quality raw milk, in response to rapidly evolving consumer trends." She added, "We will continue to expand our portfolio, including diversifying the capacity of functional fermented dairy products, to take the lead in delivering the highest-quality dairy products that satisfy consumers."
