This roundtable was organized to directly listen to the on-site voices of small and mid-sized enterprises in order to sustain the record-breaking export achievements of the K-Defense industry in recent times, and to provide tailored guidance on the various policy-based financial support programs currently being promoted by the Export-Import Bank of Korea. More than 20 executives from major defense-related companies in the Gyeongnam region attended the event.

The participants shared the current management environment caused by escalating geopolitical crises, fluctuations in raw material prices, and the restructuring of global supply chains. They also requested a more proactive and aggressive financial support role from policy-based financial institutions.

The Export-Import Bank of Korea presented its currently operating financial support packages: support of 100 trillion won for strategic order sectors such as defense, nuclear power, and infrastructure; implementation of the 150 trillion won 'Export Vitality ON' financial support package to help overcome trade crises; and support measures for the Supply Chain Stabilization Fund.

Chanjung Wi, Deputy President of the Export-Import Bank of Korea and Head of the Innovation Growth Finance Division, stated, "The remarkable achievements of the K-Defense industry recently have been made possible by the dedication and solid technological capabilities of small and mid-sized enterprises. The Export-Import Bank of Korea will serve as a strong financial partner so that SMEs and mid-sized firms can directly participate in global supply chains and secure independent export competitiveness."

Starting with this roundtable, the Export-Import Bank of Korea plans to expand on-site communication at key defense industry hubs. In particular, the bank will closely cooperate with the Korea Defense Industry Association to discover promising SMEs and will continue to expand policy-based financial support for mutual growth and ecosystem development in the defense sector.
