Hanwha Construction Division Introduces Next-Generation EV Charging System to Forena Complexes

Solving Fire Risks and Charger Shortages
To Be Introduced in Forena Residential Complexes This Year
Installation Planned for LH Happy Housing as Well

On March 11, Hanwha Construction Division announced that it has completed the development of its next-generation ceiling-mounted electric vehicle charging system, 'EV Air Station,' which features enhanced fire detection capabilities, and will begin full-scale deployment in Hanwha Forena complexes.

'EV Air Station' is the first electric vehicle charging system in Korea where the connector descends from the ceiling. By utilizing intelligent power distribution technology, a single charger can simultaneously charge up to three vehicles, significantly improving space efficiency and user convenience.

In addition, the system addresses the fire risk issues that have affected existing electric vehicle charging facilities. Equipped with a fire detection sensor, fire detection camera, and PLC (Power Line Communication) functionality for information exchange between the battery and charger, the system can detect abnormal signs at an early stage and take proactive measures to eliminate fire hazards.

The 'EV Air Station' also resolves the problem of charger shortages. While traditional EV charging stations have struggled with installation difficulties due to space occupation and power supply limitations, this new system leverages ceiling-mounted installation for greater flexibility and maximizes operational efficiency through advanced power distribution technology. Thanks to these strengths, it was awarded the Grand Prize for Innovation at the Future Innovation Technology Expo last year.

Hanwha Construction Division aims for 'zero electric vehicle fires,' and plans to prioritize the supply of EV Air Stations to Hanwha Forena residential complexes in 2026. In December of last year, the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LH for the first pilot introduction of the next-generation ceiling-mounted EV charging system, and agreed to install EV Air Stations in the Gwacheon S11BL Happy Housing complex and the Daegu Yeonho A2BL apartment complex as well. Hanwha Construction anticipates that EV Air Station will be commercialized in the future across public institutions, general buildings, and apartment complexes.

Kim Minseok, Head of the Architecture Business Division at Hanwha Construction Division, stated, "EV Air Station is an innovative EV charging solution that meets charging infrastructure standards without space constraints and incorporates fire detection technology. Starting with the Hanwha Forena complexes, we plan to focus our efforts on providing safe and convenient charging infrastructure for electric vehicle users."
