Naju City in South Jeolla Province has launched a group of supporters to ensure the success of the '2026 Naju Visit Year' initiative.

The city announced that on the afternoon of March 10, it held the inauguration ceremony for the '2026 Naju Visit Year Citizen Supporters' at the main conference room of Naju City Hall, with around 200 attendees, including representatives from related organizations, social groups, and professional associations.

This inauguration ceremony was organized to strengthen the city's tourism readiness based on citizen participation and to spread a culture of hospitality at the community level in anticipation of '2026 Naju Visit Year'.

The Citizen Supporters group is composed mainly of related organizations such as Naju Cultural Foundation and Dongshin University, as well as social groups like the Village Leaders Council, Residents' Autonomy Council, and volunteer organizations, and professional associations such as the Accommodation Association, Food Service Association, Merchants' Association, and artists' groups.

Representatives from participating organizations and groups shared the significance of citizens working together to create the first impression of Naju as a tourist city, reaffirming their joint commitment to the successful hosting of '2026 Naju Visit Year'.

The ceremony began with the national pledge and greetings, followed by an introduction to the direction of the Visit Year initiative, a briefing on the roles of the supporters, a reading of the resolution, and a commemorative photo session.

Through the resolution, attendees pledged to lead efforts in providing friendly service to visitors, promoting tourism, and fostering a culture of hospitality in the region. They also agreed to work together to realize a tourism city created by its citizens.

The Citizen Supporters' delegation, who read the resolution, stated, "As the face of Naju, citizen supporters will take the lead in greeting tourists with warm smiles and friendly service, ensuring they leave with fond memories of Naju."

The subsequent 'We Create Naju's First Impression' hospitality mindset training session emphasized the importance of citizens' friendliness and service mindset when welcoming tourists, helping participants strengthen the fundamental capabilities needed for a tourism city.

Naju City plans to operate a core cooperative network that links the Citizen Supporters with the '2026 Naju Visit Year Task Force', which is headed by the Deputy Mayor.

Going forward, the supporters will carry out various citizen-participation promotional activities, such as campaigns to improve tourism readiness, promote the Visit Year, and share tourism information, serving as on-the-ground promoters for Naju as a tourist city.

Meanwhile, Naju City intends to establish a public-private partnership-based tourism promotion system and transition to a stay-type tourism model, laying the foundation for achieving its goal of becoming a city that attracts 5 million tourists annually.
