This public hearing is the outcome of a working-level meeting held on March 9. Both institutions agreed that gathering opinions from citizens and the education community is essential under the enactment of the "Special Act for the Establishment of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City."

The schedule for the public hearings is as follows: The first session will be held on March 18 at the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education’s Civic Cooperation Promotion Center, and the second session will take place on March 23 at the Suncheon Bay Ecological and Cultural Education Center of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education.

The event will proceed in the following order: a progress report on the integration of educational administration so far, explanations addressing key questions from the education community, and the collection of on-site opinions for building an integrated education system.

Currently, the Jeonnam Task Force and the Gwangju Working Group are holding weekly regular meetings to further detail the integration roadmap. In particular, they are forming and operating specialized working groups for specific fields such as IT integration, and are strengthening both online and offline cooperation systems to ensure a seamless administrative integration.

Yoon Yangil, head of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Integration Task Force, stated, "The process of building an integrated education system for Jeonnam and Gwangju must be based above all on the diverse opinions of the education community," adding, "Through this public hearing, we will gather a wide range of views and build consensus to ensure the integration proceeds smoothly."
