Railway experts from around the world will gather in one place to discuss the future of railways over the next 30 years, including increasing global railway speeds and next-generation railway technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI).
Korea Railroad Research Institute announced on the 10th that it will host an international seminar commemorating its 30th anniversary under the theme "Railways Opened by Innovative Technologies: The Future of Public Transportation" at 1:30 p.m. on the 17th in the Grand Conference Room, Room 401, COEX, Seoul.

원본보기 아이콘This seminar has been organized to review the research achievements accumulated by the institute over the past 30 years and to explore future directions for railway technology development and possibilities for global cooperation.
In the keynote speeches, Kim Taebyung, Director General for Railways at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, will present on "The Innovative Vision and Sustainable Future of Korea's Railways." Following this, Zhang Zhifang, Chairman of the China Academy of Railway Sciences (CARS), will outline directions for global railway technology cooperation with a lecture titled "Global Railway Innovation and Partnership for the Next 30 Years."
The seminar will consist of a total of seven presentations across two sessions.
The first session will focus on trends in high-speed railway development, discussing technological strategies for increasing speed, as well as the achievements and future potential of spatial innovation created by railway infrastructure. The second session will introduce future technologies that enhance operational efficiency and safety in railways, with a focus on next-generation railway technologies combined with artificial intelligence (AI).
Sagong Myung, President of Korea Railroad Research Institute, said, "This is a meaningful opportunity to discuss the future of railway technology together," and added, "Based on the research capabilities we have accumulated over the past 30 years, we will continue to lead as an institution developing transportation technologies that are felt by the public for the next 30 years as well."
The seminar is free and open to anyone interested in the field of railways, and participation is available through pre-registration.
