The participating professors issued a statement, saying, "Uijeongbu is currently facing an unprecedented fiscal crisis and a severe downturn in the local economy," defining the present situation as an emergency. They continued, "What we need right now is not a reckless experiment, but a 'proven problem-solver' who possesses extensive administrative experience, academic depth, and genuine sincerity toward the citizens," stressing that Byungyong An is the right person for the job.

They evaluated that Byungyong An successfully carried out the first Innovation Education District project in Gyeonggi Province, attracted Eulji University, and established the Future Innovation Education Cooperation Center. They further noted that he has led city affairs with unwavering resolve despite numerous challenges, including the light rail bankruptcy crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group of former and current professors from Shinhan University also emphasized, "Byungyong An knows Uijeongbu better than anyone and has dedicated himself to finding solutions for the city. We are confident that his policy philosophy will usher in a new renaissance for Uijeongbu, and we strongly support the true blueprint for the city that he envisions."

Byungyong An stated, "I am grateful for the professors' declaration of support and feel a heavy sense of responsibility. I will do my utmost to live up to the professors' trust and belief that my experience can resolve Uijeongbu's crisis."
