Guo stated, "We have taken note of the relevant reports," and added, "This is a decision made by Iran in accordance with its own constitution."
When asked, "US President Donald Trump said that Mojtaba Khamenei may not last long, and Israel said it would target him. How does China view these comments?" spokesperson Guo answered, "China opposes interference in the internal affairs of other countries under any pretext. Iran's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity must be respected."

Russian President Vladimir Putin also stated in a message released by the Kremlin, "I sincerely congratulate Hoseini Khamenei on being elected Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
He continued, "At a time when Iran is facing armed aggression, fulfilling such a high position requires great courage and dedication. I am confident that you will build upon your father's legacy and unite the Iranian people during these difficult trials."
President Putin reaffirmed "Russia's unwavering support for Iran and solidarity with our Iranian friends," emphasizing, "As in the past, Russia will remain a reliable partner of the Islamic Republic in the future."
