Sacheon City Launches Aerospace Industry Hub Initiative... Begins Design of Public Rental-Type Knowledge Industry Center

Establishing Custom Research and Manufacturing Spaces for Tenant Companies
Completion Target Set for 2029

On March 9, Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province held a kick-off meeting for the basic design of the "Sacheon City Public Rental-Type Knowledge Industry Center Construction Project," officially launching the design phase for establishing a future aerospace industry hub.

During the meeting, several key points were shared: ▲ efficient allocation of work, manufacturing, and research spaces tailored to the characteristics of tenant companies; ▲ plans for communication-focused support facilities such as shared meeting rooms and lounges; and ▲ approaches to applying eco-friendly and energy-saving designs.

In-depth discussions were also held regarding strategies for building an industrial support platform that embodies both functionality and symbolism.

The project aims to create spaces for aerospace companies and startups to respond to the New Space era and to strengthen the foundation for high value-added industries through the clustering of small and medium-sized enterprises and technological collaboration.

The public rental-type knowledge industry center is scheduled to be built at 533-4 Tongyang-ri, Yonghyeon-myeon, Sacheon City, comprising one underground and five above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 9,289.48 square meters and a site area of 6,991.7 square meters.

With a total project budget of approximately 30 billion won, construction is scheduled to begin in April 2027, aiming for completion in March 2029.

A city official stated, "This knowledge industry center is not just a mere building but a strategic hub that will redraw Sacheon's future industrial landscape. Through its structure, where aerospace companies and startups can conduct research, manufacturing, and collaboration together in one space, we aim to establish an industrial ecosystem where technological innovation and job creation create a virtuous cycle."

The official also emphasized, "From the basic design phase, we will meticulously incorporate the functions that companies truly need, making this center a platform where businesses can gather, grow, and leap onto the global stage. We will spare no administrative and financial support so that Sacheon can firmly establish itself as the 'aerospace capital.'"

They further added, "This project will be the starting point for an industrial transformation where young talent settles in the region and advanced companies cluster. We will steadily lay the foundation for a sustainable, future-oriented industrial base."
