#. Mr. A needs to submit a copy of his resident registration to a financial institution. Previously, this required visiting a local community center or logging in to the Government24 website. However, as of March 9, 2026, he can now easily obtain the document with just a single authentication by simply telling the AI National Assistant, "Issue my certificate," on the Naver or KakaoTalk application.
Now, administrative services can be accessed through the Naver or Kakao applications, which are used by the vast majority of the population.
On March 9, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety held an opening ceremony for the "AI National Assistant pilot service" at the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation in Pangyo Techno Valley. The event was attended by Yoon Ho-jung, Minister of the Interior and Safety, Im Moon-young, Vice Chairperson of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee, Choi Sooyoun, CEO of Naver, Jeong Sinha, CEO of Kakao, as well as other key officials and about 150 citizens.
The AI National Assistant is a service that allows citizens to access public services through private applications they use in their daily lives. Through this pilot service, citizens can apply for and receive around 100 types of electronic certificates. They can also search for and reserve over 1,200 public sports facilities, meeting rooms, and more nationwide.
On the Naver app, users can access the "My" menu and click on "AI National Assistant" to issue electronic certificates or reserve unused public resources through the Share Nuri service. On the KakaoTalk app, adding the "National Assistant Goopy" channel enables users to access the same AI National Assistant services as on the Naver app.
Naver and Kakao have optimized their own large language models for public services. Users can now conveniently request documents in natural conversation or receive facility recommendations connected to local restaurant information, experiencing a more user-friendly administrative service.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to gradually enhance the capabilities of the AI National Assistant. The goal is to develop the service into a proactive, customized information provider covering every stage of life, such as birth, relocation, or starting a business. The government also plans to establish a mediation platform to encourage greater participation by private AI companies.
In addition, to ensure the safety and reliability of key technologies such as AI agents, security measures have been strengthened through close consultation with the National Intelligence Service.
Minister Yoon stated, "We will continue to expand innovative AI-based public services that citizens can tangibly experience in their daily lives through public-private collaboration."
