MOTREX Obtains AI+ Standard Certification for "Smart Patrol Car License Plate Recognition System"

MOTREX, an automotive electronics company, announced on March 9 that its self-developed "Smart Patrol Car License Plate Recognition System" has officially obtained the AI+ Standard certification.

The AI+ Standard certification is an artificial intelligence (AI) quality certification system established by the Korean Standards Association, which evaluates and certifies the model performance and functionality of AI-applied products based on international standards. Through this certification, MOTREX has received institutional recognition not only for the performance of its AI technology applicable to real public and security sites, but also for its management system spanning from development to operation, thereby strengthening the credibility of its AI-based mobility solutions business.

The Smart Patrol Car License Plate Recognition System is an AI solution installed in patrol cars that automatically recognizes and reads vehicle license plates while driving. After first applying it to the National Police Agency's smart patrol car pilot project in 2022, MOTREX supplied a cumulative total of more than 6,500 units as of last year. In particular, the system is based on a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which has enhanced AI processing capabilities. According to the authorized test results from the Road Traffic Authority, the system achieved a combined day and night recognition rate of 97.9% and a false recognition rate of 0%, demonstrating its competitive performance.

MOTREX plans to gradually expand its AI-based mobility solutions business in the public and security sectors to meet the demand for smart security and intelligent transportation, focusing on public institutions and local governments. The company is also pursuing certifications and compliance with standards to enter overseas public markets. In addition, MOTREX will continue to upgrade its AI management system in accordance with international standards such as ISO 42001, enabling a proactive response to changes in the global regulatory environment.

A MOTREX representative stated, "This certification is an official recognition that the Smart Patrol Car License Plate Recognition System meets the quality and reliability standards required at actual public sites," and added, "Going forward, we will steadily expand our AI-based mobility solutions business, focusing on public and security sectors, to strengthen our foundation for medium- and long-term growth."
