원본보기 아이콘Sokcho City in Gangwon Province has been running the "Starlight Bus Support Project" to ensure that high school students can safely return home after completing nighttime self-directed study since the second semester of 2025, and plans to continue the program this year as well.
Recently, as more students are participating in nighttime self-directed study, feedback from schools has indicated that limited city bus operating hours are resulting in shorter study time and difficulties in commuting home. In response, Sokcho City is operating a dedicated school bus using the Hometown Love Fund.
In particular, starting this year, Sokcho Girls' High School has introduced a system that allows students' safe arrival home to be confirmed in real time via a notification app once they arrive home using the return bus, thereby ensuring even safer management of students' commutes.
Lee Byung-sun, Mayor of Sokcho, said, "By supporting the safe return bus, we hope to create an environment where students can return home safely even late at night and provide better conditions for them to focus on their studies. We will continue to implement various policies to foster local talent and create a safe educational environment."
