CJ Olive Young Becomes First in Korean Beauty Industry to Obtain International Open Source Certification

CJ Olive Young announced on March 9 that it has become the first company in the domestic beauty and health industry to obtain the international open source standard certification 'ISO/IEC 5230:2020'.

'ISO/IEC 5230:2020' is the only international standard that evaluates a company's open source license compliance system and management capabilities. Open source refers to source code that is made available for anyone to use freely, which offers the advantage of reducing development costs and time. However, since it is transparently released, it may have security vulnerabilities, making compliance with related license regulations crucial. Therefore, the certification is awarded to companies that meet the criteria after a comprehensive evaluation of their compliance capabilities, including open source software policies and processes, the expertise of responsible organizations and personnel, and education.

This certification is significant in that it officially recognizes the security and transparency of Olive Young's open source management system as meeting international standards, as the company strives to become a 'global beauty tech platform.' As Olive Young begins its overseas expansion in earnest, including the opening of an offline store in the United States in May of this year, this certification is expected to be an important milestone in enhancing the stability and credibility of Olive Young's services abroad.

Olive Young established its open source management system in 2023 to meet the criteria for international standard certification. The company designated an organization and personnel to be exclusively responsible for open source verification and management, and formed an 'Open Source Council' to identify and manage potential risk factors. It also established its own open source management regulations and a process that mandates open source verification during system development. Olive Young is also operating systems for open source license verification and security vulnerability checks.
