Geochang County's First Supplementary Budget Set at 852.4 Billion Won, Up by 21.1 Billion Won

Expansion of Resident-Focused Projects,
Including Livelihood Stabilization and
Strengthening Agricultural Competitiveness

Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on March 9 that it has submitted its first supplementary budget bill to the Geochang County Council, increasing the original budget by 21.1 billion won to a total of 852.4 billion won.


For this supplementary budget, the general account increased by 16.1 billion won to 790.2 billion won, while the special account grew by 5 billion won to 62.2 billion won. The allocation of funds was designed to align with the government's policy of sound fiscal management, focusing on revitalizing the local economy, stabilizing residents' livelihoods, and ensuring the smooth advancement of key local projects.

Major projects include: the establishment of a medical welfare town; development of the Geochang Advanced General Industrial Complex; construction of dormitories for agricultural workers; the Gamaksan Flower Star Tour; support for local vacation programs; the 2026 Open Tourist Destination Project; installation of semi-permanent rice paddy ridges; creation of a smart agriculture fostering district (rental-type smart farms); construction of a storage warehouse for agricultural product collection (APC) equipment in the northwestern Gyeongnam hub; and a traditional market district urban regeneration project.


Geochang County Governor Koo Inmo stated, "This first supplementary budget was designed to maintain the government's sound fiscal stance, while prioritizing projects that will truly help stabilize livelihoods and revitalize the local economy."


He added, "We have concentrated funds on areas directly related to residents' daily lives, such as medical and welfare services, strengthening agricultural competitiveness, and addressing key local issues. Moving forward, we will continue to manage our limited resources efficiently to foster balanced regional development and lay the foundation for sustainable growth."


Meanwhile, the 2026 first supplementary budget bill will be reviewed, resolved, and finalized at the 292nd extraordinary session of the county council, scheduled to take place from March 19 to March 25.
