Jinhoon Lee, Preliminary Candidate for Suseong District Mayor, Pledges 24 Billion Won Aerial Rail Linking Suseong Lake and Deuran-gil (1.8km)

Jinhoon Lee, Preliminary Candidate for Mayor of Suseong District, Daegu, announced the 'Suseong Lake Sky Taxi Introduction Project' as a campaign pledge on March 8, 2026.

This pledge is a tourism mobility project that aims to connect the 1.8-kilometer section from Suseong Lake Station on Metro Line 3 to the Deuran-gil Food Town with an aerial rail. The Sky Taxi is designed as a small mobility vehicle for two or four passengers, traveling along a rail 10 meters above ground level, allowing riders to enjoy panoramic views of Suseong Lake as they move.

Passengers will be able to board directly from the concourse at Suseong Lake Station on Line 3, with boarding platforms installed at approximately 250-meter intervals to provide direct access to major restaurants and commercial areas along Deuran-gil.

This project has been proposed as an alternative to the previously planned 160-meter pedestrian bridge connecting the northern side of Suseong Lake to the entrance of Deuran-gil. The aim is to build infrastructure that integrates tourism, mobility, and the revitalization of local businesses, rather than simply connecting pedestrian routes.

The total project cost is estimated at approximately 24 billion won. Of this, 12 billion won will be sourced from national and city budgets allocated for the Suseong Lake Traveler Street project, while the remainder will be secured through additional national funding or private investment. The possibility of using the Sky Taxi operation rights and the Suseong Lake North Sky Caf? business rights as incentives for private investment is also under consideration.

Candidate Lee also stated his intention to restructure the commercial district along Deuran-gil in conjunction with the introduction of the Sky Taxi. He plans to move away from the current suburban, low-rise restaurant-centric structure and develop a mid-rise, street-style commercial area targeted at younger generations, transforming it into a cultural and dining street.

Lee emphasized, "Suseong Lake is a key tourism asset of Suseong District, but it has lacked accessibility and a stay-type tourism structure. By connecting Suseong Lake and Deuran-gil with the Sky Taxi, we will create a new landmark that enhances tourism, business, and urban appeal all at once," adding, "I am committed to completing the second phase of the Suseong Lake improvement project."
