The Indong Elementary School volleyball team in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province (Principal: Yoon Byungchan) once again demonstrated the strength of local volleyball by winning the boys’ elementary school volleyball division at the 2026 Gyeongsangbuk-do Youth Sports Competition, held at the Yeongju National Sports Center from March 3 to 4.
Indong Elementary School built momentum by defeating Andong Yeongho Elementary School with a set score of 2-0 in the finals on the first day, thanks to their stable defense, organized offense, and unwavering teamwork. On the second day of the finals, they secured a decisive victory over Gyeongsan Hayang Elementary School with another 2-0 set score, confirming their championship with overwhelming performance.
Team captain Park Seongbin said, “I am truly happy that all our hard work has led to such a great result. I want to thank my teammates for their efforts and our coach for his guidance. I will do my best at the National Youth Sports Competition, carrying the responsibility of representing North Gyeongsang Province.”
Kim Hyunjae, the volleyball team’s dedicated coach, commented, “It is very meaningful that the players’ sweat and effort during winter training led to this championship win. We will prepare even more systematically in the remaining time so that we can show our best at the National Youth Sports Competition.”
He added, “With this victory, the Indong Elementary School volleyball team has been selected to represent North Gyeongsang Province at the National Youth Sports Competition to be held in Busan this May. This achievement has further boosted the confidence of our student athletes and is expected to have a positive impact on the development of youth volleyball in the region.”
