The police are searching for the owner after a report was filed in Incheon regarding the discovery of a garbage bag containing 25 million won in cash.
According to the Incheon Jungbu Police Station on March 6, a report was received on February 10 that a bundle of cash had been found in a 20-liter standard garbage bag discarded next to a villa in Geumgok-dong, Dong-gu.
A man in his 60s, referred to as Mr. A, discovered the bundle of cash covered with clothes while checking the garbage bag for old clothes collection. The bundle consisted of 50,000-won bills, grouped in bands of 100 notes each.
The police conducted fingerprint analysis to identify the owner of the money, but were unable to determine the owner. They have posted notices on the LOST112 integrated lost property portal and in local newspapers, and continue the process of verifying the rightful owner.
The police announced that if no owner comes forward after the six-month notice period, the ownership of the cash bundle will be transferred to Mr. A. If the owner is found, under the Act on the Acquisition of Lost Articles, the finder may be eligible to receive a reward amounting to 5 to 20 percent of the value.
A police official stated, "We have not yet identified the owner, and we also plan to check for any possible criminal connections related to the cash bundle."
