Sensview, a company specializing in high-frequency connection solutions, announced on March 6 that it will ramp up its supply of components in anticipation of increased demand for the Korean medium-range surface-to-air interceptor system, Cheongung-II.
Sensview supplies antennae and high-frequency connection components for multifunction radar, which are core elements of the Cheongung-II system. These components are expected to be used in Cheongung-II systems that will be delivered to the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in the future.
As the United States and Israel continue military clashes with Iran, and with repeated ballistic missile and drone attacks launched by Iran in the Middle East, the importance of missile defense systems is becoming increasingly evident. In particular, Cheongung-II has reportedly achieved an interception success rate of about 90% during recent engagements, drawing greater attention to the system.
Sensview has secured orders for radar-related key components for Cheongung-II systems that will be exported to Saudi Arabia and the UAE in 2024 and 2025. According to public disclosures on single-sale and supply contracts, the cumulative order volume stands at approximately 11.3 billion won.
Cheongung-II is a Korean medium-range missile defense system, also known as the "Korean Patriot," that performs interception based on a high-performance multifunction AESA radar capable of detecting and tracking enemy ballistic missiles and aircraft.
A Sensview official stated, "In advanced air defense systems like Cheongung-II, high-frequency component technology that can stably realize radar performance plays a crucial role," adding, "We expect that as overseas exports of domestic air defense systems expand, opportunities to supply related key components will also increase."
