On March 6, independent research firm ValueFinder highly rated S-Energy's technological competitiveness, noting that the company was the first in Korea to obtain KS certification for HJT (heterojunction solar cell) modules, a next-generation technology designed to overcome the limitations of conventional silicon solar cells.
S-Energy, Korea's first solar module manufacturer, has recently signed a 20MW module supply agreement with a renewable energy company in the Middle East, and subsequently announced another contract for 11.5MW of solar power facilities in Jeju Island, continuing to report new orders in succession.
Founded in 2001, S-Energy is a solar energy specialist that focuses on solar modules and fuel cells, and was listed on the KOSDAQ market in 2007. The company is recognized for its technological capabilities and a wide range of references built on its long operational history, and it maintains a low defect rate of approximately 0.01%, demonstrating its competitiveness in quality. Despite oversupply from China, S-Energy continues to develop next-generation products such as N-type and HJT modules, and is expected to benefit from policies promoting the localization of solar technologies and the expansion cycle of related infrastructure.
Lee Choongheon, a researcher at ValueFinder, explained, "As Elon Musk recently mentioned space solar power as a solution to power bottlenecks caused by AI proliferation, emphasizing the need to expand solar infrastructure, it is noteworthy that S-Energy has announced module supply agreements not only in Korea but also in the Middle East."
He added, "The company has recently decided on a paid-in capital increase to develop independent power supply solutions for AI data centers. This fundraising is more investment-driven than merely financial, and it highlights the company's potential to expand into the energy solutions business, leveraging its experience in building energy infrastructure that includes not only solar power but also hydrogen fuel cells."
