Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on March 5 (local time), "At present, there are no signs of resuming the trilateral talks due to the situation involving Iran."
President Zelensky stated on social media on this day, "We are in daily contact with the United States, and if circumstances allow, we will immediately resume the trilateral talks."
He added, "The trilateral talks were originally scheduled to take place between the 5th and 9th of this month, but now another war has broken out in the Middle East," and continued, "We discussed the possibility of changing the meeting location with the United States or postponing the talks."
The trilateral negotiations among the United States, Russia, and Ukraine have been held three times so far, but no decisive breakthrough has been achieved. With the additional outbreak of military clashes between the United States and Israel and Iran, the resumption of the talks has become uncertain.
President Zelensky emphasized that the exchange of prisoners of war on humanitarian grounds must proceed as planned. He said, "Prisoner exchanges are always important and positive for the families," and added, "I sincerely hope that we can begin the prisoner exchange procedures within the next few days."
On February 5, during the second round of trilateral talks held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Russia and Ukraine each exchanged 157 prisoners of war.
