Previously, on March 2 (local time), the New York Post reported that some Iranians expressed their gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump, who eliminated Khamenei, by performing the Trump dance. The Trump dance is characterized by movements where both arms are swung up and down, a dance President Trump showcased during his presidential campaign. Clips of him dancing to the song "YMCA" by the Village People were repeatedly shown, establishing this as his signature dance.


The woman featured in the video introduced by the New York Post later revealed on social networking service X (formerly Twitter), "I am the woman who was dancing." She stated, "I left Iran several years ago and am currently pursuing a doctorate in engineering in the United States," and added, "I am immensely grateful for the freedom I enjoy here." She continued, "A dream that so many Iranians desperately wished for has finally come true. I thank the American people for your love and support."

It is not difficult to find videos of Iranians performing the Trump dance on social media. Iranian activist Sana Ebrahimi, on February 28-the day Khamenei died-posted a video of the Trump dance on her X account, writing, "I am Iranian and today is the best day of my life," and, "Khamenei, the dictator and murderer, is dead." The video surpassed 30 million views in just three days.


Additionally, dozens of people were captured dancing together in squares and outside buildings, praising President Trump, and students were seen shouting "I love Trump" as they watched smoke rise from buildings hit by airstrikes. Iranian Americans and Iranians were also seen waving flags and dancing in places such as Times Square in New York and Westwood in Los Angeles, expressing their joy.


Khamenei reportedly died on February 28 during a large-scale military attack against Iran conducted by the United States and Israel. President Trump stated on his social media account, "One of the most evil figures in history has died," and added, "This is justice for the Iranian people and the victims in many countries around the world." He continued, "This is an opportunity for the Iranian people to reclaim their country."
