The real estate market in Daejeon is showing signs of recovery. After several years of stagnation, the market is now beginning to rebound in earnest.
In fact, Daejeon is one of the few regions outside the Seoul metropolitan area to record an increase in transaction volume, displaying a trend distinct from other areas. According to data from Korea Real Estate Board, the number of apartment transactions in Daejeon in January 2026 reached 1,900, an increase of 169 compared to the previous month. During the same period, Ulsan also showed an upward trend and Sejong Special Self-Governing City was included in the growth, while many other regional cities such as Busan, Daegu, and Gwangju saw a decline, highlighting a clear disparity in transaction trends within non-metropolitan areas.
Apartment prices in Daejeon are also on the rise. Based on transaction analysis by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the average apartment sale price in Daejeon increased from 375.43 million won in December 2025 to 375.84 million won in January 2026, a rise of approximately 0.11%. In the old downtown area of Jung-gu, some apartments hit new record highs. For example, an 84㎡ unit in 'Daejeon Haneulchae Sky&' (scheduled for occupancy in July 2024), located in Sunhwa-dong, was sold for 555 million won in February 2026, which is 53 million won, or 10.6%, higher than the price of 502 million won in January 2026.
The number of unsold units has also decreased. According to data from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the National Data Office, the number of unsold units in Daejeon as of January 2026 was 1,549, a decrease of 546 compared to 2,095 units in January 2025.
A real estate expert commented, "Daejeon's real estate market has now passed the bottom and has entered a full-fledged recovery phase. In particular, with the recovery of the local economy, the marked increase in apartment transactions and rising prices are positive signals. Given Daejeon's advantages in transportation and infrastructure over other regional cities, the market here is expected to revitalize more rapidly going forward."
Against this backdrop of a recovering Daejeon real estate market, attention is turning to 'Harrington Place Oryong Station,' which is scheduled for sale in March and is located in a prime spot in the old downtown area.
The complex is located at 722 Yongdu-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon, and will consist of five basement levels and 26 above-ground stories, with a total of 427 units. Notably, the complex boasts superior transportation convenience as it is situated at the entrance of Oryong Station on Daejeon Subway Line 1, and its location is expected to become even more advantageous with the planned expansion of Daejeon’s transportation network.
Harrington Place Oryong Station offers easy access to the lifestyle infrastructure of the old downtown. Within a five-minute drive is Costco Daejeon; other nearby amenities include entertainment facilities such as CGV and Megabox, as well as medical facilities like Chungnam National University Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital. Hanaro Mart and Yudeungcheon Stream are also close by, forming a living area that encompasses shopping, culture, and leisure.
The complex also boasts excellent transportation options. With its prime location at Oryong Station on Subway Line 1, it offers outstanding access to the Dunsan business district and Daejeon Station, and West Daejeon Station is also nearby, making regional travel convenient. Major arterial roads such as Gyeryong-ro, Gyebaek-ro, and Dongseo-daero are close at hand, facilitating both public and private transport.
The educational environment is also excellent. Mokdong Elementary School is within approximately 300 meters, and Daeseong Middle and High Schools are adjacent, providing a '12-year one-stop school zone' from elementary through high school. Other schools such as Chungnam Girls’ Middle and High Schools are also nearby, ensuring a solid academic environment. Additionally, it takes about five minutes by subway to reach the Dunsan academy district, guaranteeing convenient access to private education institutes.
The complex design is also noteworthy. All units are oriented to the south with wide spacing between buildings and a piloti design on the first floor to enhance openness. The complex consists exclusively of 84㎡ units, catering to real end-user preferences, and offers special features such as a pantry, dressing room, and alpha room depending on the unit type. Parking is available at a ratio of 1.37 spaces per unit (a total of 587 spaces), and preliminary Zero-Energy Building certification has been secured to improve energy efficiency and help reduce maintenance costs.
Various community facilities such as a fitness center, golf practice range, study caf?, mom caf?, and guesthouse are also planned.
Meanwhile, the model home for Harrington Place Oryong Station will be set up in the Bongmyeong-dong area of Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.
