Pi Day, Science Market... Gwacheon Science Museum to Host Seasonal Science Events 'Science 4 Seasons'

Science Culture Programs to Run Year-Round,
Starting with Pi Day on March 14

The National Gwacheon Science Museum will operate the science culture event 'Science 4 Seasons,' which highlights the unique features of each season, throughout the year. The event is organized around interactive programs to help visitors enjoy science in a more approachable way.

On March 5, the National Gwacheon Science Museum announced that starting with the Pi (π) Day event on March 14, it will continue to host seasonal science culture programs for summer, autumn, and winter.

In spring, the 'Pi Day on March 14 at the Science Museum' event, inspired by the mathematical constant pi (3.14), will take place. Interactive missions such as the Pi Memory Champion contest, finding birthdays within the digits of pi, timing exactly 3.14 seconds, and opening to page 3.14 will be offered. Participants can earn points after completing missions and exchange them for souvenirs.

During summer and autumn, the museum will host the science-themed flea market 'Today’s Science Market: Sci-jangnim,' where children actively participate. As 'Sci-jangnim,' children can sell or exchange unused items from home or science kits, helping them naturally learn about resource circulation and basic economic concepts.

The events will be held in the outdoor area of the Gwacheon Science Museum in May and October (in the Central Hall in case of rain). Recruitment of participants will be announced on the science museum’s website and social media in April and September.

In winter, the 'Holiday in Science' program will be held to capture the end-of-year atmosphere. A Christmas tree will be installed in the Central Hall, and seasonal decorations will be added throughout the museum, offering visitors a unique holiday experience.

Han Hyungjoo, Director of the National Gwacheon Science Museum, said, "We have prepared programs with new themes for each season so that visitors can experience science in a friendly way," adding, "We hope these science culture events become established as enjoyable experiences for families and all visitors alike."

Pi Day, the first event of 'Science 4 Seasons,' will take place on March 14 in the Central Hall of the National Gwacheon Science Museum, and anyone can participate on site without prior reservation.
