The 43-year-old Songpa Hanyang 1st Apartment complex in Songpa-gu, Seoul, will be redeveloped to expand from its current 576 units to 954 units.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on March 5 that it had approved a revised maintenance plan containing these details at the 2nd Urban Planning Committee meeting.

According to this revised plan, a total of 954 units, including 156 public housing units, will be constructed in buildings up to 29 stories high. This represents a 65% increase compared to the existing complex.

Songpa Hanyang 1st Apartment is located near convenient facilities such as Seokchon Station on Subway Line 8 and Songpa Neighborhood Park, as well as educational infrastructure including Songpa Elementary School and Garak Middle School, making it a location where reconstruction is expected to significantly improve residential satisfaction.

Through this redevelopment plan, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has designed community facilities such as an All Together Care Center, a small library, and playgrounds for infants and children within the complex to be open to the public so that all local residents can conveniently use them. Additionally, Baekjegobun-ro 44-gil and 46-gil, as well as Garak-ro, will have their road widths expanded to improve traffic flow in the surrounding area.

With the decision to proceed with the Songpa Hanyang 1st Apartment reconstruction plan, along with the nearby Songpa Hanyang 2nd Apartment complex (1,346 units), housing supply in the Songpa-dong area is expected to gain further momentum.

Choi Jinseok, Director of Housing at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, "We will actively support the project by significantly shortening the redevelopment period through measures such as the processing deadline system for reconstruction projects, ensuring that the housing supply proceeds smoothly without any setbacks."
