Governor Kim Jin-tae stated, "Gangwon Province's agricultural budget has now expanded to 600 billion won, and we are the first in the country to implement the half-price agricultural materials policy. We will listen carefully to your voices and work together, speaking in the language and grammar of farmers."
On this day, the provincial government presented five main strategies to strengthen agricultural competitiveness: establishing a robust agricultural foundation, nurturing young talent in rural farming, ensuring stable production of agricultural and livestock products, innovating agricultural and livestock product distribution, and field-oriented communication administration.
First, 120 projects with a total investment of 429.8 billion won will be implemented to ensure stable production of agricultural and livestock products. This includes support for half-price agricultural materials, tax-free fuel, fertilizers, farm machinery rentals, forage crops, and eco-friendly mulching films to help reduce farm management costs. In addition, the province will strengthen the income stability base through agricultural allowances, direct payments, and disaster insurance, while also expanding social service support such as welfare vouchers for female farmers, health check-ups, and vaccinations.

The aim is to achieve agricultural and livestock product sales of 436 billion won by leveraging diverse distribution channels such as mobile commerce, home shopping, direct transactions, and large supermarkets. Furthermore, to reach 1.04 trillion won in agri-food exports, the province will expand overseas market channels, modernize facilities, and enhance export consulting support. In addition, Gangwon Province plans to operate the nation's first Wide-Area Agricultural Product Supply Support Center to directly manage and coordinate the supply of horticultural products at the provincial level.
For establishing a robust agricultural foundation, 95 projects totaling 149.1 billion won will be promoted. The province will create four regional smart farms and seven smart fruit-specialized complexes (covering 141 hectares), and renovate 84 agricultural production facilities such as irrigation systems to improve the farming environment and prepare for disasters. Additionally, 90 advanced livestock projects will be carried out to create a more pleasant farming environment.
For nurturing young agricultural talent, 35 projects worth 15.8 billion won will be implemented to establish a comprehensive support system covering the entire cycle from preparation to growth and settlement, while strengthening tailored support by stage. In addition, the number of public seasonal labor support centers will be expanded from 13 in 2025 to 24 in 2026 to ensure a stable rural labor supply base.
During the meeting, various suggestions from the agricultural sector were raised, including requests to ease administrative procedures for building foreign worker accommodations, expand the limit for the half-price agricultural materials support project, enhance quarantine support for livestock farms, and increase the supply of rental agricultural machinery.
