Hanatour announced on March 4 that it has launched the 'Mingling Tour Light' product, which offers tours of animal-themed islands. The package is designed to allow travelers of similar ages to freely connect with each other without the need for a specific hobby or host accompanying the group. By choosing a familiar animal theme, Hanatour aims to lower the barrier to entry, and by visiting unique islands instead of typical tourist destinations, the tour adds a special twist to the travel experience.
The flagship tour, 'Kyushu·Fukuoka 3-Day Cat Island,' includes a half-day trip to Ainoshima, home to a variety of stray cats. Travelers can enjoy a relaxing, healing journey by interacting with cats that are friendly toward people and taking photos with them.
After the island tour, the itinerary includes a visit to an izakaya with unlimited drinks, encouraging participants to mingle naturally. The package also provides airport-hotel transfer services and a free day, so travelers can enjoy the convenience of a package tour along with the flexibility of independent travel.
The 'Hiroshima 4-Day Mingling Tour Light Rabbit Island' product features a visit to Okunoshima, a habitat for wild rabbits, where participants can observe the animals up close. Before the main island tour, the schedule includes visits to major tourist attractions and mingling time, allowing solo travelers to easily connect with others in the group.
According to Hanatour, mingling tours have been steadily gaining popularity among travelers in their 20s and 30s. As of 2025, both the number of participants and the number of products sold for mingling tours increased by 605% and 729%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
A Hanatour representative stated, "We aimed to create an environment where even solo travelers can interact comfortably with others through the common theme of animals, which everyone finds familiar." The representative added, "We plan to continue expanding our themed products that incorporate diverse lifestyles to meet the growing travel demand among Millennials & Gen Z."
