A man in his 50s was arrested by the police after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's apartment in the early hours and wielding a weapon.
The Gwangju Seobu Police Station announced on the 19th that they had urgently arrested and were investigating Mr. A, in his 50s, on suspicion of attempted murder.
Mr. A is suspected of breaking into a 15th-floor unit of an apartment building in Geumho-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, at around 2:30 a.m. that day and attempting to kill Ms. B, a woman in her 50s, and Mr. C, a man in his 50s, by stabbing them with a weapon.
Responding to a report, the police arrested Mr. A at the scene shortly after the crime; he had failed to flee and was hiding in the stairwell of the apartment building.
The investigation found that Mr. A had been in a romantic relationship with Ms. B in the past. It was revealed that, after seeing Mr. C at Ms. B's home, Mr. A wielded a weapon he had prepared in advance.
The victims, who were stabbed with the weapon, were taken to a hospital; however, Mr. C is reported to be in critical condition and currently unconscious.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A after investigating the exact motive and circumstances of the crime.
