Sokcho City in Gangwon Province is accepting applications for the 2026 tuition support program for multi-child families, in order to ease their financial burden and create stable study conditions for local talent.
The college tuition support program for multi-child families is a project promoted to reduce the educational expenses of multi-child families whose resident registration is in Sokcho City and to help their children continue their studies.
The original eligibility criteria covered third or later children who were college freshmen or enrolled students up to 2024, but starting in 2025 it was expanded to include second or later children who are college freshmen. In 2026, second children will be eligible for support if they entered college in 2025 or later.
The maximum amount of support is 1 million won per person. It is provided once within the scope of the actual tuition amount paid to the university, excluding other scholarships and similar support.
Applications will be accepted year-round starting from February 23 and will continue until the budget is exhausted. Among this period, February 23 to March 31 will be operated as a focused application period. Applicants or their guardians who wish to apply must visit the community service center of the administrative dong that has jurisdiction over their place of resident registration.
An official from Sokcho City said, "In order to solve the low birth rate problem, it is more important than anything else to have practical and tangible support policies for multi-child families," adding, "We will continue to do our best to make Sokcho a good place to raise children through various policies that reduce the burden of childcare and education."
