An exclusive usage right is a type of patent granted by the Korea Life Insurance Association to financial products. To protect the interests of companies that develop new products, the association grants them an exclusive sales right for a certain period, during which other companies are not allowed to sell similar products.

Kyobo Life Insurance launched "Kyobo Double-Up Women's Health Insurance (non-participating)" in September last year, providing coverage for major diseases across a woman's entire life cycle from pregnancy and childbirth to middle and old age. In January this year, the company newly added to this product the industry's first "(non-participating) Specific Uterine Disease Coverage Rider."

The New Product Review Committee of the Korea Life Insurance Association granted an exclusive usage right for Risk Type 1 of the Specific Uterine Disease Coverage Rider (the projected utilization rate of covered specific uterine disease ultrasound examinations, once per year).

This rider is the first in the industry to cover "benefit ultrasound examination support expenses," which are essential for accurate diagnosis of specific uterine diseases in women.

It goes one step further than existing insurance products, which focused on post-diagnosis coverage such as surgery and hospitalization after a disease is confirmed, by placing emphasis on "prevention and early detection" through regular checkups.

In particular, it received positive evaluations for its potential to prevent or alleviate progression to serious diseases or infertility through support for ultrasound examinations.

When Kyobo Life Insurance launched Kyobo Double-Up Women's Health Insurance, it also introduced, for the first time in the industry, a rider that covers the cost of covered specific hereditary gene tests and NGS hereditary gene panel tests necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of hereditary female cancers. For this, the company was granted a three-month exclusive usage right by the Korea Life Insurance Association in November last year.
