Vice Minister Kim Daehyun Of Culture, Sports And Tourism To Attend Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that Second Vice Minister Kim Daehyun will visit the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics from February 19 to 23. Vice Minister Kim plans to encourage the Korean national team and to inspect on-site support to ensure that assistance continues without any setbacks until the end of the Games. He will also attend the closing ceremony on the 22nd.


On February 20, Vice Minister Kim will visit the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Village to meet the athletes who are devoting themselves to final-stage training and competitions, and to convey his encouragement so that they can fully demonstrate their abilities until the very last moment. He will check whether there are any shortcomings in the support being provided to the team, and he will also encourage the support staff who have been backing the athletes on-site since before the Games so that they can faithfully fulfill their roles through to the end.

On February 21, he will visit the catering support center, which is responsible for the team’s local adaptation and nutritional management, to express his appreciation to the support personnel. On the same day, he will attend the disbanding ceremony of the Republic of Korea national team and the “Night of the National Team” event, where he will thank the athletes and officials who gave their all throughout the Games.


Vice Minister Kim Daehyun is also scheduled to visit competition venues. On February 20 and 21, he will watch the short track and speed skating events to cheer on the Korean athletes.


On February 22, the final day of the Games, he will travel to Verona to attend the “Closing Ceremony of the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics” and celebrate the achievements of the Korean delegation.


Vice Minister Kim stated, “Until the very end of the Games, I will carefully inspect the venues so that our athletes can focus solely on their competitions in the best possible environment and complete the Games safely without injury,” adding, “Through this event, we were able to witness the growth of rookie athletes and the strength of veteran athletes. I am deeply grateful to all the members of the national team who have delivered great inspiration to the Korean people.”
