The Ventures, a venture capital firm specializing in global early-stage investments, announced on the 19th that it has officially launched a dedicated English-language media channel, "The Ventures Research," to support global fundraising for Korean startups.
Amid growing interest from overseas investors in the Korean market, The Ventures has become the first in Korea to introduce a media-driven strategy used by major Silicon Valley investors such as Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Sequoia Capital.
Under this approach, the investment firm directly operates an industry media outlet to increase overseas exposure for its portfolio companies and to support global partnerships. Among major Korean investment firms, The Ventures is currently the only one that regularly publishes English-language media content.
Notably, The Ventures has released the six-month real-world validation results of "Vicky," an AI investment manager it developed as the first of its kind in Korea. Vicky demonstrated its technological validity by achieving an 87.5% consistency rate with human investment managers' decisions and shortening the investment review period from more than one month to one week. The Ventures evaluated this as a case that both resolved bottlenecks in the review process to provide faster decision-making for founders and proved the AI capabilities of Korea's investment industry in the global market.
In addition, it regularly publishes reports based on primary data gathered in the field, including the restructuring of the retail market following the entry of Chinese commerce companies into Korea, and analyses of the growth drivers of the Korean startup ecosystem.
According to The Ventures, since the launch, 40% of newsletter subscribers have been overseas readers, with the majority of them working in the investment and financial sectors. In particular, the core readership includes heads of research at major Wall Street financial institutions, serial entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, and top-tier institutional investors abroad, and this interest is said to be leading to concrete collaboration inquiries.
Content for The Ventures Research is written directly by The Ventures partners and investment managers, who participate as contributors and base their articles on on-the-ground investment data. The Ventures plans to publish quarterly reports on the Korean investment industry and disclose the global expansion achievements of key portfolio companies, with the aim of becoming an essential reference for overseas investors seeking to understand trends in Korean industries.
Kim Cheol-woo, CEO of The Ventures, said, "The competitiveness of a venture capital firm is determined by its media influence and network power," adding, "By combining advanced AI technology with a Silicon Valley-style media strategy, we will help promising Korean startups receive fair recognition in overseas markets."
