Seoul City has been holding garden expos since 2015. Starting in 2024, it has been organizing the Seoul International Garden Expo to develop the event on an international scale. The Corporate Companion Garden was arranged after companies with a strong interest in ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management and social contribution activities conveyed to Seoul City their intention to fulfill their social responsibility by creating gardens.

At the signing ceremony held on the 10th at the Seosomun 2 Building of Seoul City Hall, Seo Dongwook, Executive Director of Gyeryong Construction, and Kim Younghwan, Director of the Garden City Bureau, attended.

Through this business agreement, Gyeryong Construction will create the Corporate Companion Garden on the north side of the central lawn plaza in Seoul Forest. The theme has been set as “Relationships, and Building a Garden.” It is intended to convey the message that “the act of construction, defined as raising the soil, setting the trees, and opening the paths, is in itself a process of recovery that rebuilds broken relationships.”

The garden will feature benches and trees arranged in line with the circulation route to create a cozy atmosphere. As a citizen rest area, the garden is expected to further enrich the Seoul International Garden Expo. Seoul City will be responsible for promoting and supporting the project, as well as for maintenance and management after taking over the garden.

A representative of Gyeryong Construction said, “Participating in the Corporate Companion Garden at the Seoul International Garden Expo is a meaningful opportunity for Gyeryong Construction to share with citizens the philosophy of sustainable construction and people-centered housing that we have pursued,” adding, “We will continue to faithfully fulfill our role as a construction company that enhances the value of life through spaces and grows together with society.”

Kim Younghwan, Director of the Garden City Bureau of Seoul City, said, “Thanks to the meaningful participation of many companies in creating the Companion Gardens, the Seoul International Garden Expo has become even richer,” and added, “We will create beautiful gardens that further highlight the significance of the Companion Gardens and enhance citizens’ happiness.”
