Made with Korean Beef Bone Broth Filled with Green Onions, Bracken, and Taro Stems

Shinsegae Food announced that starting on February 12, it will begin selling the ready-to-eat meal “Korean Beef Tripe Spicy Beef Soup” developed in collaboration with Jungang Haejang at Emart stores nationwide. The price is 9,980 won.

As the trend of high inflation continues, more consumers are choosing to eat at home instead of dining out. In particular, when it comes to soup dishes, there is a clear tendency to value the original texture of ingredients and deep flavor, and analysis suggests that in the ready-to-eat meal market as well, the quality and completeness of ingredients are emerging as key purchasing criteria.

Previously, in August last year, Shinsegae Food introduced “Korean Beef Tripe Hangover Soup” and “Korean Beef Shank Bone Soup,” developed in collaboration with Jungang Haejang, through e-commerce channels. These products have surpassed cumulative sales of 150,000 units. Since then, the company has expanded its sales channels to SSG.com and Traders, and in particular, after entering Traders, “Korean Beef Tripe Hangover Soup” has sold about 20,000 packs per month on average. This product has established itself as a “steady seller,” driving a double-digit increase in Shinsegae Food’s fourth-quarter frozen soup and stew ready-meal sales compared with the same period a year earlier.

The company explained that applying a freezing process to preserve the original texture and flavor of the ingredients played a decisive role. It is being evaluated that the strategy of recreating the taste enjoyed at restaurants while reducing the burden of price has proven successful.

The newly launched “Korean Beef Tripe Spicy Beef Soup” features a rich beef bone broth made with Korean beef, enhanced with chili oil and sesame oil, and generously filled with green onions, bracken, and taro stems. On top of that, the addition of Korean beef tripe and beef brisket point end further elevates the umami flavor and texture.

A Shinsegae Food official said, “As dining-out prices rise, more consumers are looking for convenient yet highly satisfying meals at home,” adding, “We will continue to expand our ready-to-eat meal lineup through collaborations with various brands so that customers can enjoy popular restaurant dishes at reasonable prices.”
