Chairman Park Jeongwon Steps Up On-Site Management: "We Must Fully Capitalize on Opportunities Based on Our Accumulated Capabilities"

Visit to Enerbility Site Following Doosan Bobcat
Plans to Visit Electronics BG Plant as Well
Reiterates Emphasis on Employee Safety

Park Jeongwon, chairman of Doosan Group, has been accelerating the growth of key businesses such as energy, advanced materials, and compact equipment through a series of on-site management activities since the beginning of the year.

On February 11, Chairman Park visited Doosan Enerbility's plant in Changwon, Gyeongnam, to review the status of its energy business. In particular, he closely inspected the gas turbine plant for power generation, which has become increasingly busy on the back of a string of recent orders, as well as the production line for small modular reactor (SMR) main equipment, paying meticulous attention to on-site conditions.

At the site, Chairman Park told the accompanying management team, "With the advent of the great transition driven by artificial intelligence (AI), a major arena of opportunity has opened up in the energy business sector," and emphasized, "We must further strengthen our global competitiveness based on the capabilities we have accumulated so far and fully capitalize on these expanded opportunities."

Having succeeded in localizing large gas turbines for power generation in 2019, Doosan Enerbility has so far secured orders for a total of 16 gas turbines at home and abroad. Notably, last year it signed a contract to supply five large 380-megawatt (MW) gas turbines to a United States big tech company, marking its first export of gas turbines overseas. This achievement is regarded as a milestone that has elevated the status of Korea's power generation industry, as it involves re-exporting domestically developed technology and products to the United States, the home of gas turbine technology.

Doosan Enerbility has established a mid- to long-term roadmap targeting cumulative orders for 45 gas turbines by 2030 and 105 by 2038. To support this, the company is carrying out facility investments to expand the annual production capacity at the Changwon plant to 12 units, a 1.5-fold increase, by 2028. It also plans to accelerate the development of hydrogen turbines based on its fundamental gas turbine technology, with the aim of preempting the next-generation carbon-free power generation market.

Doosan Enerbility is also standing out in the SMR sector, which Chairman Park inspected on site after the gas turbine facilities on the same day. The company is solidifying its position as a "global SMR foundry" that is exclusively responsible for manufacturing main equipment and core materials by partnering with global leaders in SMR technology such as NuScale Power, X-energy, and TerraPower. Starting with the main equipment and core materials for 16 SMR units ordered by X-energy, Doosan Enerbility plans to begin production of the initial batch entrusted by NuScale Power in the second half of this year.

To ensure the timely supply of these orders, Doosan Enerbility is building the world's first dedicated SMR plant at its Changwon site. The plant is scheduled for completion in 2028, and once it is fully operational, the company's SMR production capacity is expected to increase significantly from the current 12 units per year to more than 20 units. Through this, the company plans to establish a "customer-tailored optimized production system" that can meet the diverse designs and specification requirements of SMR developers around the world.

On February 2, Chairman Park visited the Doosan Bobcat plant in Incheon to inspect the site. He received reports on the business performance of products such as forklifts, skid loaders, and mini excavators, as well as the status of business sites in Korea, India, China, and other regions, and then toured the manufacturing site. While carefully examining working conditions in Incheon and Changwon, Chairman Park repeatedly stressed to employees that "safety is the most important thing above all else," and issued special instructions regarding safety.

On February 12, Chairman Park will then visit Doosan's Electronics BG plant in Jeungpyeong, Chungbuk, to inspect the manufacturing process for copper-clad laminates (CCL) used in AI accelerators. Electronics BG, which surpassed annual sales of 1 trillion won for the first time in its history in 2024, is expected to have achieved another record performance last year, continuing its growth momentum thanks to expanded supply to global big tech companies.

Based on this differentiated technological prowess, Electronics BG is building a solid backlog of orders from global big tech companies and others. Due to the current surge in orders, the plant utilization rate is exceeding 100%, and the company is moving to expand production facilities (CAPEX) and add new lines in order to respond preemptively to growing market demand.

Earlier, in January, Chairman Park visited CES 2026, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas in the United States, to examine the latest technology trends, including AI, and explore business opportunities. At this year's CES, Doosan showcased its energy solution lineup, including gas turbines and SMRs tailored for the AI era, as well as physical AI technologies in the construction machinery and robotics sectors.
