Gyeonggi Province is implementing the "Overseas Standards Certification Acquisition Support Program" to strengthen the export competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province.
This program supports part of the costs such as testing fees, certification fees, and consulting fees for SMEs that possess technological capabilities and product quality but face difficulties in obtaining overseas certifications due to complex procedures and cost burdens.
Gyeonggi Province has allocated a budget of 410 million won, more than double last year’s amount, and will increase the number of beneficiary companies from 20 last year to 38 this year.
The scope of standards certifications eligible for support will be expanded from 387 to 573 items, including major certifications such as the European Union Conformity Marking (CE), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In addition, the export amount requirement has been abolished, thereby lowering the entry barrier so that any exporting SME with a business site or factory located in the province can apply more broadly.
The support will cover 70% of the costs incurred for certification acquisition, renewal, and post-management, up to a maximum of 10 million won per company. There is no limit on the number of certifications. Certifications already obtained in the current year (2026) are also eligible for support.
Companies wishing to participate can apply online through the Gyeonggi Business Portal website (www.egbiz.or.kr) by February 26.
Gyeonggi Province will notify selected companies individually in March after a review process.
Park Kyungseo, Director of the International Trade Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Overseas standards certification is an essential gateway for entering the global market and a key means of enhancing product reliability," adding, "We will actively support SMEs in the province so that they can overcome technological barriers and expand their export territories amid a rapidly changing trade environment."
