The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Mayors and County Governors Council (Chairman Lee Hyunjong, Cheorwon County Governor) has called for the prompt revision of the Gangwon Special Act.

원본보기 아이콘Taking the lead, Lee Hyunjong, Chairman of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Mayors and County Governors Council, visited the National Assembly in person on the 11th, adding weight to Governor Kim's appeal and delivering a strong message that united the will of all 18 cities and counties in the province.
Chairman Lee stated, "The revision of the Gangwon Special Act is not a demand from any particular institution, but an urgent request from both the residents of the province and all basic local governments," adding, "As this is a key bill that will establish the foundation for Gangwon Province's competitiveness and sustainable growth, the National Assembly must no longer delay and should process it as quickly as possible."
Governor Kim Jintae said, "The Gangwon Special Act, which is aimed at expanding local autonomy and improving regulations, must no longer be pushed back," stressing, "The revision bill must be immediately introduced and reviewed so that it is not a law that is only 'special' in name, but one that contains substantial powers and systems."
The council plans to continue making every effort to ensure the swift revision of the Gangwon Special Act through ongoing consultations with Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the National Assembly, gathering local opinions, and coordinating joint responses.
