On February 11, the KOSPI started slightly lower in the 5,200 range. The KOSDAQ also remained flat, with a strong wait-and-see mood in early trading.
On this day, the KOSPI opened at 5,293.75, down 0.15% from the previous day. It then climbed into the 5,300 range but soon fell back, standing at 5,290.94 as of 9:31 a.m.
By investor type, foreign investors recorded net selling of 417.8 billion won. Individual investors and institutions were net buyers of 432.6 billion won and 30.6 billion won, respectively.
Performance diverged by sector. Several sectors fell by more than 1%, including textiles and apparel (-3.07%), electrical and electronics (-1.79%), securities (-1.76%), and medical and precision instruments (-1.40%). In contrast, pharmaceuticals (2.74%), telecommunications (2.63%), construction (1.34%), and food, beverages, and tobacco (1.26%) rose.
Among the top 10 KOSPI stocks by market capitalization, SK Hynix (-2.5%), SK Square (-2.2%), Samsung Electronics (-1.4%), Hanwha Aerospace (-0.7%), and LG Energy Solution (-0.2%) declined. KB Financial Group (3.4%), Samsung Biologics (0.8%), Doosan Enerbility (0.6%), and Kia (0.5%) also fell.
The KOSDAQ opened at 1,120.62, up 0.49%. As of 9:31 a.m., the gain had narrowed, with the index at 1,115.35.
Here as well, individuals and institutions were net buyers of 50.7 billion won and 15.2 billion won, respectively, while foreign investors were net sellers of 58.1 billion won.
On the KOSDAQ market, the proportion of rising and falling sectors was similar. General services (2.42%), pharmaceuticals (1.36%), transportation and warehousing (0.83%), and publishing and media replication (0.83%) posted the largest gains in that order. Machinery and equipment (-1.66%), chemicals (-1.56%), distribution (-1.17%), and finance (-1.00%) declined.
Among the top 10 KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, more issues rose than fell. ABL Bio (3.7%), LegoChem Biosciences (3.5%), Alteogen (2.6%), HLB (2.3%), and Samchundang Pharm (1.1%) recorded the largest gains in that order. Rainbow Robotics (-1.6%), Ecopro (-1.3%), and Leeno Industrial (-1.1%) declined.
