Busan Gijang-gun Holds Final Report Meeting on Implementation of 8th Elected Administration Pledges

Achievements in Transportation, Industry, and Daily-Life Infrastructure Despite Administrative and Fiscal Constraints... Laying the Foundation for Gijang’s Future

Gijang-gun (Mayor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 10th that it held the final report meeting on the implementation performance of the mayor’s campaign pledges for the 8th elected administration on the 9th, sharing the results of pledge implementation over the past four years and the future direction of implementation.

This meeting was the last review session on the pledges of the 8th elected administration, and it focused not only on evaluating the simple implementation rate, but also on comprehensively examining the administrative and financial constraints encountered during the implementation process, the efforts made to overcome them, and the tangible outcomes that residents can actually feel.

The pledges of the 8th elected administration consist of 72 detailed projects across 18 sectors in 4 major areas. As of January 2026, 9 projects have been completed, 10 projects are being continuously pursued after completion, 50 projects are being carried out normally, and 3 projects are partially in progress, leading to the assessment that most pledge projects are now on a stable implementation track.

In particular, in the transportation sector, two core pledges have been highlighted as representative achievements: the final confirmation of KTX-Eum service stopping at Gijang Station, and the introduction of a new airport bus route for the Southeast Region Megacity. These are said to have significantly improved residents’ mobility convenience and made visible the effects of expanding everyday, life-oriented transportation infrastructure.

Regarding the establishment of a foundation for future growth, the Radiological Medical Science Convergence Cluster development project is being promoted step by step, as major national projects such as the construction of a heavy ion therapy center have entered full swing. Through this, Gijang-gun is laying the groundwork to leap forward as a hub for advanced medical and scientific industries.

Projects classified as long-term tasks, such as the lifting of development restriction zones and the construction of large-scale road and transportation infrastructure, were also reviewed, focusing on financial conditions and implementation status. As these projects require complex administrative procedures, including consultations with the central government and Busan City and the securing of large-scale budgets, discussions centered on step-by-step implementation strategies.

In this process, it was emphasized that, building on achievements such as securing national funding for the Bansong Tunnel and connecting road construction project, long-pending issues that had been stalled are gradually leading to more concrete results.

Gijang-gun Mayor Jung Jongbok said, “This was an opportunity to comprehensively review how our promises to the residents have been implemented during the 8th elected administration,” adding, “Some projects have been unable to gain speed due to administrative procedures and financial conditions, but there has been meaningful progress in that long-term projects are now translating into tangible outcomes.” He went on to stress, “For the remainder of my term, I will responsibly ensure that the pledge projects are brought to a stable conclusion.”

The results of this report meeting will be released through the Gijang-gun website, and the county plans to concentrate its administrative capacity during the remainder of the term to ensure that the pledge projects can be carried out without disruption in line with the plans.
