The Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute announced on the 10th that it will fully launch integrated operations by consolidating local administration licensing information and daily-life convenience data produced by local governments nationwide into the Public Data Portal.

With this integration, information that had previously been provided separately through the "Local Administration Licensing Data Open Portal" and the "Public Data Portal" has been unified into a single access point. As a result, users can now check and utilize licensing information by business type nationwide and daily-life convenience data more easily and conveniently through the Public Data Portal.

The integration covers 195 types of local administration licensing information, such as general restaurants and mail-order businesses, and 14 types of daily-life convenience information, including civil defense shelters, closed-circuit (CC) TV, and unmanned civil service document issuance machines, for a total of 209 types of data.

In particular, during this integration process, the institute significantly expanded data provision in the form of application programming interfaces (APIs) for developers. Previously, only 197 types of data, including 195 licensing types and 2 daily-life convenience types, had been provided in API format, but with this improvement, all 209 types of data are now available via API.

This will make it easier to analyze the distribution status and changing trends of specific business types, and is also expected to significantly enhance the development of data-based services and the use of data in research. Historical data are also provided, enabling time-series analysis of increases and decreases by business type and regional change patterns.

To minimize inconvenience for existing users, the "Local Administration Licensing Data Open Portal" will continue to operate in parallel on a temporary basis until April 15.

Park Deoksu, President of the institute, said, "The integrated opening of local administration licensing data is highly significant in that it has laid the foundation for easier use of public data," adding, "We will continue to support the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and high value-added data by strengthening data quality management and platform stability."
