Uijeongbu City Completes Installation of "Ttaseum-gil" and "Ttaseum-teo" to Bring Warmth to Rivers in Winter

Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province has completed the installation of windbreak facilities along major rivers in the city, including the Jungnangcheon, using its winter cold-wave countermeasure budget. The aim is to protect citizens using the rivers from the winter cold and to support healthy leisure activities.
This project was prepared in consideration of the geographical characteristics of rivers, where it is difficult to avoid the biting winter wind. By creating convenience facilities that can block the wind along the rivers, the city seeks to support outdoor activities for citizens and provide spaces for rest.
At six locations, including the Minrakcheon clay path, the city has created "Ttaseum-gil" by installing windbreak screens, thereby promoting citizens' health. In addition, three pergolas along the rivers, as well as the areas under Dongmakgyo Bridge and Geumsingyo Bridge, have been equipped with "Ttaseum-teo" windbreak tents to secure shelters for pedestrians and bicycle users.
Along with these, glass greenhouse-type "Ttaseum-teo" facilities have been installed around Hyoja Station and the Howoncheon area and are receiving a positive response. Inside, they are furnished with chairs and tables to provide a cozy space where visitors can rest while looking out over the river. These facilities are located on top of the embankment and have been designed so that there are no problems even during heavy rain; a temporary building report has been completed. The city also plans to use them as heatwave countermeasure facilities in the summer.
During the winter season, the city plans to thoroughly manage safety by carefully inspecting environmental conditions around the convenience facilities and checking the condition of the structures. The installed windbreak tents will be operated flexibly, reflecting temperature changes and citizens' opinions. Before the rainy season begins, they will be dismantled and stored, then reinstalled the following winter to continuously provide convenience for citizens.
An Uijeongbu City official said, "We hope that even in the cold winter, citizens can feel warmth and take a rest along the rivers," adding, "We will continue to pursue on-site-oriented river management and everyday, citizen-centered projects that residents can truly feel in their daily lives."
