KGA announced on February 9 that it has signed a contract worth approximately 4.9 billion won with Top Material for the supply of secondary battery electrode process equipment. As a result, its new order backlog has exceeded 7.0 billion won in just one month.
The company that will receive KGA's equipment is developing next-generation batteries, with a focus on all-solid-state batteries. All-solid-state batteries are expected to be widely used in a variety of fields, including electric vehicles, humanoid robots, high-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles, and advanced air mobility.
KGA's strength lies in its differentiated, customer-tailored design and manufacturing capabilities, and it has supplied a large number of next-generation secondary battery process equipment to multiple customers. These pieces of equipment are generally manufactured with the mass-production phase in mind, and when front-end customers expand their production capacity, this typically leads to follow-up orders.
KGA has supplied various pilot equipment for the commercialization of different types of next-generation batteries to major companies in Korea and overseas, and is focusing on the development and advancement of multiple game-changing technologies, such as dry electrode process equipment and aqueous-process technology for cathode active materials. The company is also devoting its capabilities to the molded battery field, which can more than double the battery capacity for humanoid robots.
A KGA official said, "Projects that had already been scheduled have been normalizing since last month," adding, "As we continue to strengthen our sales activities across the company, we expect to accelerate the improvement in our performance."
