According to GS Engineering & Construction on the 9th, CEO Heo visited Australia from the 2nd to the 5th to review the status of local infrastructure projects and meet with the heads of relevant organizations.
GS Engineering & Construction first entered the Australian construction market in 2021 and has been building experience through large-scale infrastructure projects such as road and subway tunnel construction. Based on these project capabilities, the company is also preparing to expand its business portfolio to include the development of Australia's power grid infrastructure.
CEO Heo visited the SRL subway tunnel construction site, which was awarded in 2024, personally inspected the construction progress, and encouraged local employees. He also held meetings with key figures in the state of Victoria to discuss additional projects in Australia. In addition, CEO Heo reviewed a large-scale power grid infrastructure development project, for which GS Engineering & Construction is preparing to participate in the bidding as part of a consortium with local Australian companies.
As the supply of renewable energy is rapidly increasing in Australia, there is a growing need to build large-scale transmission networks to deliver the generated electricity to cities and industrial complexes where it is actually needed. GS Engineering & Construction has identified business opportunities in this Australian market environment and plans to actively participate in future power grid infrastructure development projects in the country.
CEO Heo shared opinions and plans for the project in a meeting with the CEO of an Australian power company that will join the bidding as a consortium partner. He also met with a local specialist construction company and the CEO of Infrastructure Partnerships Australia (IPA), a research institute related to Australian infrastructure, to hear about trends in the Australian infrastructure industry.
An official at GS Engineering & Construction said, "We will continue to expand our presence in the Australian market based on the project execution experience and technological capabilities we have accumulated so far."
